Do you ever feel the tasks on your to-do list are piling up and deadlines are around the corner? Surely, many of us have been there one time too many – or may even experience it every single day at work.
The feeling of being pulled in different directions to complete tasks can make you dizzy. On the other hand, changing tasks or multitasking on a daily basis makes it hard to stay focused. Either scenario can feel as if you are climbing a steep mountain. The moment you begin your day reviewing all the tasks you’re up against, the mountain resembles the Mount Everest.
So, we’ve compiled a few helpful life hacks to help make your workday more productive and less hectic. Ready to blast through your work tasks and make your work day more enjoyable? Put these productivity hacks to work straight away.
Easy Productivity Hacks to Make More of Your Day
Apply these easy life hacks to accomplish more work in less time. There’s never been a better time than to be more productive instead of just busy on any hectic day at work.
HACK #1 Get your to-do list ready
Be clear and concise of what needs to be accomplished on a specific day. Of course, you may have various tasks pending and mounting on your list for weeks to come, but start by creating milestones for each one. By creating milestones, you are establishing your daily goals, which are much easier to accomplish and will keep you focused.
Take about 10 – 15 minutes the night before or right before you begin your workday and write down your to-do list. When noting the tasks you intend to complete, include the outcomes you expect from accomplishing these tasks and results you wish to achieve. Also, be realistic in the number of tasks you plan to complete on a daily basis. Try to gear towards three to five tasks every day.
Focusing on daily work outcomes will help you boost productivity and is much more powerful for accomplishing goals.
HACK #2 Move Your Body
Begin your day moving! Exercise is not only good for our health, but it is also highly beneficial for work. According to research, when you adopt an exercise regime on working days, you boost your productivity and improve performance. The study conducted by the University of Bristol reported that 79% of respondents experienced higher interpersonal and mental performance and 74% described they had better work productivity on the days they exercised.
HACK #3 Stay Hydrated
Many people take the advantages of hydration for granted. But did you know that our brains are made up of 85% of water? Failing to hydrate our body, we are approximately 73% water, will not allow us to function properly in the workplace. Inadequate intakes of H2O leads not only to dehydration but also fatigue, decreased energy and headaches.
As many of you may be aware, the traditional recommendation intake of 8 glasses of water a day still applies. However, other experts say that you can find your ideal water requirement by taking your body weight (in pounds), then dividing that in half to find the number of ounces your body needs. Feel free to see what works best for you to meet the hydration demand of your body. But the key point here is to avoid the consequences of dehydration.
Hack #4 Love Your Work
Being in love with your business or work may sound a bit cliché. However, if you infuse love into your work or business, positive energy will flourish. The positivity you generate can help you adopt a positive attitude which will make your tasks more enjoyable – and easier to accomplish.
Also, your interactions with fellow team members or colleagues will improve as you infuse your work with goodwill. Who enjoys working with someone who dislikes their job or has a negative attitude? Probably no one. So, love your business even in the toughest of times even when you feel overwhelmed. Keeping a positive outlook and good head on your shoulders will keep you moving forward.
Hack #5 Tidy Up Your Desk
Your workspace is very important for your mindset and productivity. If your office is stacked with paperwork and littered with non-essential things, it could quickly clutter your mind. Not to mention, you won’t be able to find important notes or files which could result in you feeling overwhelmed. This is not good.
Take an hour out of your day and organise any clutter on your desk. Also, organising your workspace is not a one-time thing which leads back to a neglected littered desk. Oh, no. Try to make time every week to tidy up your workspace. The best days for this would be either Friday or Monday, Friday being that you come back on Monday to a clutter-free desk and get ready to conquer the week ahead.
